As you enter the sanctuary, you will be offered a
bulletin, which is designed to be "user friendly," making it fairly
easy to follow along in the service.
At 10:45,
the congregation hears about upcoming activities at Cleveland
Heights. Following the
announcements, the organist plays the chimes, the choir sings the Introit as
the candles are lit, and the choir processes in as we all sing the opening
hymn.
The service is fairly similar to other Protestant churches, except for the
way Rev. Nadine instructs the children. As they sit around the steps in the
front of the church listening to his message for them. Perhaps this is
how Jesus taught the children who followed him. The children are then dismissed
for Sunday School, which takes place in the education rooms north of the
Atrium.
The service moves along with a scripture reading and an anthem by our
choir. One would never know that these folks are amateurs.
Directed by Charles Johnson, our four part choir presents music that surely
glorifies God and moves each listener closer to God.
The anthem is followed by the sermon. Rev. Nadine’s sermons offer
the congregation thought provoking reflections on the day’s Scripture and
give everyone some bit of inspiration and guidance for daily life.
Weekly communion, which is open to all, is then taken in unison by the
congregation.
If a coffee hour is scheduled after the service, we hope you will be able
to stay. This social time is enjoyed by young and old alike. It gives us a
better chance to meet old friends as well as guests like yourself.
